Sunday Sketches - The New Puppy

Hello there....

This Sunday Sketch is dedicated to a special little girl who received a new puppy this week.

Our friends were lucky enough to have adopted a Seeing Eye puppy. Yes, an 8 month old yellow lab, that just didn't make the cut to be a full time seeing eye dog...

Apparently he was too calm!

Lucky for them!

Studio Assistants

Today is bring your child to work day.

I am here with my 2 daughters in the studio.  

Summer and Saylor are all ready for work. In fact, Summer is typing this blog post for me.

We have already drawn this sketch,scanned it,colored it, and posted it today.

We have updated our Facebook page and checked our Etsy shop.

Creative Tuesdays- Mama

The theme over at Creative Tuesday's this week is Mama. 

My girls call me Mama, aka Mama Llama, or just plain Mommy...

 I do love hearing the sound of "Mama" from their tiny little voices.

For this theme, I was inspired by a recent trip to the library. 

The girls and I were reading a book about Zoo Animals while we were there, 

and on one of the pages was a picture of the cutest baby giraffe.

The girls agreed, "Mama, draw the giraffe" ...
So, when we got home I got out my pencils and this is what
 came out of my brain!

Giraffes really are beautiful creatures, aren't they?

 I was inspired to create something special 

for Earth Day today.

And with all of the beautiful flowers popping up everywhere I go, 

I couldn't help but think of one of my favorite quotes to illustrate....

Just imagine, if  every time we laughed, flowers began to pop up around us? 

Wow, the world would be even MORE lovely...oh, and wouldn't it smell delicious, too?

I think so!

The Scent of Lilac Air

One of my favorite scents of spring is lilac air.

Are you familiar with this sweet scent?

Well, right outside my back door is a 100 year old white lilac tree.

It's blossoms are in full bloom today. 

It shades our back patio with its graceful branches and sends a delicious perfume to all who stop by.

It's just lovely. 

I just wish I could bottle it!

Sunday Sketches - Distraction and a birthday

Hello there!

 Happy Easter -

I am posting my Sunday Sketches a bit early this week as tomorrow is not only Easter Sunday, 

but it is my BIRTHDAY!

 Yipeee! I will be celebrating all day!

My sketch this week is inspired by a little girl who seems to be quite distracted when it comes to 

studying the correct usage of similes...and the proper measurement of right angles- and multiplication tables...and division equations....

Perspectives and fractions....and everything in between...

Do you know anyone like that?

Well, I certainly do!

...Remember those days?

I definitely was the girl gazing out the window and getting lost during class...

dreaming of my future...

Well, my future is here...and I am off to enjoy the beginning of another great year!

Cookies perfect for any artist

Last week I visited my daughter's elementary school to discuss the great artist Claude Monet.

We created our very own caricatures and impressionistic paintings, just as Monet had done.

I love the creative energy and excitement of young artists!

The best part of the lesson?

Sharing these beautiful custom made cookies I had ordered for their class -

4L Will Excel is the class motto....

and I had them custom designed just for the class,

thanks to a wonderful shop over on ETSY called

TSCookies.

Aren't they fun?

Hello there!

Hello There - and Happy April -

Did anyone play an April Fool's joke on you yesterday?

Well, my daughter Summer did. She came to me with an ACE bandage on her left ankle yesterday,

and for several hours had me convinced she hurt herself while practicing gymnastics on the beach!

Boy, was I Fooled!

So, I am sharing my new Facebook cover photo with you all today - The new Facebook timeline has me a little confused, but I am sure I will have it up and working like new before long.
