This week, the girls and I released our butterflies. Over the past week, we have watched them grow from small caterpillars into beautiful Painted Ladies. It was time to say good bye and let them go.
We carefully opened the "butterfly garden" and one by one released them into the blue sky. They circled around us as we let them fly high above us - waving good bye with their orange speckled wings. You could almost hear them whispering, "Thank You"
With graduations and the school year coming to an end, it's the time of year when we think about flying off into the future...spreading our wings and soaring....saying thank you to those that have helped us prepare for our next flight in this beautiful journey of life....Just like the butterfly! So to all of you soaring and flying this month, I say, "Enjoy the Flight!"
So, today, I am sharing this quick little sketch I did early this morning with my friends
I love this quote I found yesterday and thought it fit perfectly with my mermaid illustration.
This is another one of the prints I will be offering in my Summer Soiree Collection....launching soon!
I do love picking up a good book and being transported to another time and place...even if it's just for a moment. I have been so busy lately, I may only be able to pick up a book for 10 minutes - then it's back to "Mommy, we need your help,"
"What's for dinner?"
" - can you drive me here?"
Can so and so come over..."
"Can you help with my homework...I have a test tomorrow,"
you know, everyday things little kids need!
So for now, I will just have to take the 10 minutes
I get and enjoy my short "reading" trips to Paris,
California and other worlds...in the pages of a good book or blog!
Since Sunday, I have colored her with pen and ink and have begun experimenting with digital color!
Well, we believe in Mermaids here at my house. The girls and I make up "tales" about ourselves as mermaids...and our fishy friends all living underwater out in the Atlantic, somewhere far off the coast.
I have always imagined a magical place existed underwater -
Coral castles and treasure chests are plentiful here in our "underwater" world...
