Color Code - Spring Bulbs

Hyacinth are one of my favorite Spring bulbs. I picked up a few for my house and am counting the days until they open and fill the house with their delicious aroma! The yummy greens and yellows are a pleasant addition to the gray skies and snowy weather we have here in the North East....I am totally ready for spring!
How about you? Ready for Spring yet?

Little Einsteins

Today is Albert Einstein's birthday. In celebration, the girls' school hosted a fantastic Science Fair last night.

My illustration (above) was chosen to be the cover for the Science Fair Program and I was honored and delighted to be a part of such a wonderful experience. There were over 25 different experiments for the kids to try. Including making your own volcanoes and a Van de Graaf Generator that created some cool electricity....We ended the evening with a glimpse of the stars. We got a peek at Jupiter and a few constellations with the use of telescopes that one parent had lent the school for the evening. It was so much fun!

There was even a Mad Scientist "Photo Booth"

The evening was amazing! Not only a  great way to introduce some of the amazing concepts in science, but also to of course,
try something new!

Make A Colorful St. Patricks Day Card

The girls and I always make our own
St. Patrick's Day cards.

This year we have created colorful postcards to send to our friends and family.
These cards are really easy and fun to make out of basic watercolors.
Using each of the colors of the rainbow ( ROYGBIV) we carefully painted our watercolor stripes along a piece of 5"x7"  watercolor paper.
We then let it dry and scanned it into the computer.

Next we added one of our favorite quotes to each one of our cards in Photoshop.
We all chose different quotes.
Our finished postcards are all ready to be mailed.
I think we will throw a few "gold coins" in the envelope for good luck!

and the best part, these fun cards can also be
put in a little frame as a reminder to always look on the bright side of life!

Grab Your Pencil

It's so true! I love this quote - Are you ready for an adventure?  Just grab a pencil and a piece of paper and you are off and running anywhere you would like! Maybe you draw the letters of your name in a fancy script. Maybe it's a sandy beach scene on a cold winter's day...Or maybe you write an award winning speech, or a thoughtful love poem with your #2, but whatever you sketch or scribble you are beginning an imaginative
trip to anywhere your mind can take you!
Isn't that wonderful?

So if we are going on a trip we need some cool pencils to take us there...
Here are a few of my favorites
I am thinking of upgrading myself to these white days of the week pencils  or Wear Sequins to Breakfast Pencils....All from Amanda Catherine Designs
(I love the idea of a pink pencil!)

Nothing like a pencil scripted with inspiration - So, OH Happy Day! and We are What We Make
are 2 more of my favorites available here

I'm off to draw my next adventure!

Sunday Sketches - Hugs

Have you ever noticed how hugging someone can actually make you feel better?
My daughter told me that her bunny wasn't feeling well, yesterday.
So she said she hugged her all night and she seems to be doing much better, today!
So cute!
Had to illustrate it!
So, go hug someone you love, today....it might make some bunny feel that much better!
Sharing this with Sunday Sketches, too!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

It's Dr. Seuss's Birthday today.
The girls and I have just finished watching The Lorax,
it's honestly one of my favorite books.

We have also been busy playing with our homemade version of Dr. Seuss's
Oobleek
in honor of another one of our favorite Seuss tales,
"Bartholomew and the Oobleck"

The texture of our Seussical goo is amazing and it's fun to play with.
Here's the Recipe.
3 Cups Corn Starch
2 Cups Water
and Food Coloring of your choice. So simple and easy!

We chose pink to go with our Lorax theme.

And, after all of this movie watching, goo playing and book reading
we will treat ourselves to these adorable looking Truffula Cupcakes...
I found the recipe here on one of my favorite blogs
adorable, right?
How about you?
Any favorite Dr. Seuss stories?
