How you Feelin'?

 We're Feelin' HOT HOT HOT here on the East Coast this week. 

They say today we could get close to 90. 

So with temperatures rising I was inspired by hot colors and nautical motifs for my 

MOST WANTED this week.

Absolutely have to have this I-Phone case from Pencil Shavings Studio ( love that name, don't you?)

My daughter's name is Saylor, afterall....

and her favorite color....Navy Blue!

I almost fell over when I saw this bag at Target....

Perfect for carrying my beach stuff, the bold bright colors just said, 

TAKE me HOME!

I was excited to find Jen Gotch of Oh Snap's work this week.Cool Polaroids of some of my favorite things...and this print is just one of my faves from her shop, here

 Just screams SUMMER to me.

and finally Hot Weather calls for hot shoes... love the the sandals from here

We can ALL fly....

When I first sketched this I was inspired by my girls playing dress up.  I was thinking, how no matter what our age, we all want to be superheros or princesses, or filled with magical powers.....Then as I added her arms and her motion of flying, I got to thinking about her arms and cape as wings.....and the feeling that we all want to fly too.....and then I realized, you know what?

We Can! 

Yes, we can all fly. We all are given wings to fly and in order to become the person that we want to be we have to take a chance and use our wings!
The world has so many wonderful adventures to offer, places to see, things to be, and  if we just take the leap we will embark on a beautiful journey!

I am off to use my wings today!

My Most Wanted for Memorial Day Weekend

A lot of people ask me where I get my favorite things....

So I have decided to start a new series on my blog...

where I can share with you all my 

MOST WANTED

1. As some of you might know, I love being festive and getting into a theme....Totally need this for my popcorn this weekend. From The Dell Cove Spice Company, here on Etsy.... LOVE this idea of sprinkling my food with stars!

2. I absolutely love this skirt from The Trendy Tot, here and wouldn't actually mind having one for myself!

I wonder if she makes adult sizes?

3. 

One of my favorite things to do is go on a picnic 

pack a light lunch, a bottle of champagne and toast the holiday weekend...

I just love this bag and think my stuff would fit nicely in here

4. And I  think I will be sporting this dress from here on my picnic and at dinner this weekend 

over looking the Harbor . 

Love the neckline and simplicity of the pattern.

5. Finally,  I love blazers, and a navy blazer is a simple way to dress up 

a chambray shirt and  a pair of white jeans.

It is the perfect look for a casual day of shopping this holiday weekend.

Drawing A Song....

 Remember the song, "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves? Well, I heard it on the radio this morning and this is what came out of my pencil and paper! It's such a happy and upbeat song....Just gotta sing to it!

 Sometimes it's just that favorite old song that can bring an inspiration to your day!

...For Oklahoma

 My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by the awful tornadoes in Oklahoma yesterday. Words can't even express how devastating the pictures are from the ground and aerial views we saw this morning on the news. Just awful. 

My daughter commented that it's really been a bad year for storms as well as the other tragedies of the year including Boston and Newton...

So I reminded her that.....Life is precious, life is uncertain, so live for today.....

and hug those you love.....whenever you can....

Friends....

  The path through life is made much easier with the help and love of a good friend....don't you think!

Sometimes it just feels soooo very good to color outside the lines and do what you want to do....

following the rules all of the time, can get a little dull.....

especially with a paintbrush and pencil!

 It's still a work in progress but I am excited to share it with you today!

Thief!

Do you compare yourself to others?

Do you look at the people around you and think, " Gee if I only was as thin, athletic, talented, rich, happy, pretty, lucky, smart, (etc) as that person, my life would be better? More fulfilled?

Well, one of my favorite quotes, Comparison is the Thief of Joy really helps you put those feelings to rest.
Think about it....When you compare yourself to others, you are forgetting to see how capable and beautiful you really are. When we look at others in a light that's brighter than our very own, it diminishes your self value and your own self worth.

Why compare yourself to someone else? YOU are YOU. There is NEVER going to be another person like you out there....Isn't that kind of cool? Isn't better to look inside and see all the amazing things that you have to offer rather than looking at someone else and seeing what they have and measuring their worth against your very own?

So let's not let Miss Comparison raid our thoughts and steal our joy....let's be happy with who and what we are and focus on keeping the joy in our very precious one and ONLY lives!

Don't Let Go

Do you have dreams? I do ....

My dreams are big, but I am holding on tightly. 

From an early age we start developing certain dreams that carry us through life. 

Without our dreams, where would we be?

My daughter dreamed of being on the Gymnastics team. She held on through thick and thin....practice after practice....her coach told her to keep trying...."Don't give up Summer," he said. So, after 3 years, she made the team! I am so proud of her! She held on tightly to her dream, believed in herself and worked hard.

I am so proud of her. She inspired me to do this little sketch  - 

Little girls have dreams.....and so do big girls! 

and DREAMS come TRUE

So I am hanging on ......

and not letting go!

We welcome you with OPEN arms!

Time to run barefoot through the grass and deliver your May Baskets...

We used to create May Baskets in elementary school- Do you remember? 

 We would decorate our handmade tiny paper baskets and fill them with flowers we picked and some kind of little sweet or homemade treat. It was tradition to leave them anonymously on your neighbors door ....

Who wouldn't LOVE coming home to one of these hanging on your doorstep?
